Arc 2: Mansion Chapter ( Episodes 3 – 6 ) Subaru is staying at Roswaal Mansion after having finally made it through the previous day. His new role is that of a butler, working alongside the twins Ram and Rem. Despite having a seemingly ordinary role — no hero stuff in sight — he’s mysteriously murdered. Something’s afoot at Roswaal Mansion. Epic fights, gruesome deaths and mysterious creatures abound in this arc. It’s up to Subaru to figure out what’s going on at Roswaal Mansion… if he can stay alive long enough, that is. Subaru finally gets a moment to relax, but he isn’t going to waste any time. There’s a date with his beloved Emilia on the horizon and he needs to prepare. He’s a man on a mission, scouring Arlam Village for the best spot. Despite Subaru’s best efforts, the date gets postponed when an unnatural cold blows in, the temperature plunging unnaturally. Subaru has no other choice: He has to get to the bottom of this. After all, his date with Emilia is at stake! Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- Season 1 Director's Cut (continued) Arc 3: Royal Selection Chapter ( Episodes 7 – 13 ) Also known as the White Whale & Sloth Arc As the Royal Selection finally begins, Emilia (a candidate for the throne) and Roswaal head to the capital, Subaru in tow. Unfortunately, Subaru embarrasses not only himself but also Emilia while there. When Subaru and Rem return to Roswaal Mansion, they find Emilia and all of their friends dead. Subaru must change this future at all costs with his Return by Death ability, and that’s exactly what he’s going to do. Subaru must navigate giant whale monsters, a witch cult targeting Emilia’s life and a tangled web of shaky alliances if he wants to prevent a horrible future. Epic fight scenes abound in this arc. New friends are made. And get ready for arguably one of the most memorable monologues in anime. This OVA is a prequel to the series, outlining what happens when Emelia first awakens before the beginning of Re:ZERO Season 1. While you can decide what order to watch this in, you should probably at least finish the first season before tackling this OVA. If anything, I’d recommend you watch this before Arc 4 since T he Frozen Bond lets you learn about Emilia and Puck’s past, which provides a lot of context going into Re:ZERO Season 2. Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- Season 2 Arc 4: Tea Party Chapter ( Episodes 26 – 50 ) Also known as the Trial & Wisdom Arc When Subaru, Emilia, and Otto finally make it back to Roswaal Mansion, they find Roswaal himself and his servants missing. In their place is Frederica, a maid Subaru’s never met. Apparently, their missing friends are in a forsaken little village called Sanctuary. When they arrive, our friends find themselves stuck there, along with all of Arlam Village and their friends. Roswaal is wounded. No one can figure out how to leave. And their only hope is if Subaru and Emilia complete the Trials of the Sanctuary overseen by the Witch of Greed. And things get very complicated very quickly. Buckle up, folks! This is one whopper of an arc, spanning all of Season 2. The goal? To make sure Emilia wins the Royal Selection and becomes queen. These days of peace and training come to an end when Emilia is invited to a meeting in the Watergate City of Priestella by Anastasia Hoshin, one of her rivals in the royal selection. The pair reconnects with the other Royal Candidates and faces their fair share of obstacles, but politics isn’t the only thing Emilia and Subaru need to watch out for. Not one but several Sin Archbishops from the Witch Cult have attacked the city. What will Subaru and his allies do when things quickly go from bad to worse?
