Horror Fishing Sim ‘Normal Fishing’ Pays Tribute to Retro Handheld Gaming [Trailer]

DREDGE fans will again have a horror fishing sim to look forward to in The Bworg’s Normal Fishing. Originally developed on itch.io (where you can download the demo), a more fleshed-out version of this tribute to a certain handheld retro console will be coming to Steam, courtesy of Pocketpair Publishing.

According to The Bworg, Normal Fishing is an “action-packed, creepy, experimental indie game inspired by retro handheld gaming consoles, childhood fears and deep, dark mysteries.” Taking place in a remote village, where fishing is a long-held tradition, there’s a mysterious lake chock full of diverse and “unusual” aquatic life. As the new fisherman in town, and with an expensive lifestyle to fund, it’s your job to catch fish, uncover treasures and more.

Normal Fishing will see you attempting to complete a collection of 20 different lake creatures through fishing minigames that see you dodging debris in the water as your hook races towards your catch. Obviously, there’s far more to this ordinary fishing game. There are secrets hidden at the bottom of those deep, dark waters. You’ll also be battling epic monsters to protect the village.

There’s also something about an ancient Godfish. But whatever you do, don’t touch the water.
