Publisher Black Lantern Collective is keeping busy with another title that’s now on Steam in Mahelyk and TheClassifiedX’s horror comedy adventure game, GlitchSPANKR. Available now with a 10% launch discount, GlitchSPANKR is a genre-bending narrative adventure that mixes humour, creeping dread and hidden mysteries, all under the guise of a floppy pink hand.

You’re a kid in the 90s who finds an old copy of “Big Booty Slapper 6” on your mum’s PC, and you boot it up. If the game’s title wasn’t enough of a warning, this all turns into a spiralling nightmare when a virus named Spunk infects the game, warping the code, and possibly you if you’re not careful. Armed only with a floppy pink SpankStick, you’ll slap your way through corrupted levels, bargain with Spunk, and uncover a story that is equal parts hilarious, yet also very unsettling.
Although the technology and ambition push well beyond what the 90s could have offered, the spirit of GlitchSPANKR lies firmly in that decade. The game can be best described as a love letter to a time when computers still felt mysterious, when there were no phones buzzing in our pockets, and when playing a new game meant stepping into the unknown.
The laughs you experience won’t break the tension, but it will for sure build it. Every joke will leave a trace, and every glitch hides something waiting to be found. Swing, swat, or slap your way through haunted worlds, potentially dangerous encounters, and a growing sense that Spunk might just like this a bit too much. Customisations can be unlocked for your SpankStick as you progress through the game.
And if you get tired of all that swinging, you can kick back at SPANKR HQ, where you can decorate, upgrade, blast out your favourite unlockable soundtracks, visit the fan art gallery and display your secrets in your own safe space. Mostly, just keep your eyes peeled.
“With all the stresses and fears of modern day, I wanted to bring back those feelings of better, more innocent times. Playing games where you had no idea what to expect, searching every corner for secrets, stumbling onto mysteries with no responsibilities to worry about,” explains Mahelyk.
