Next year, High School! Kimengumi returns to the airwaves with a new anime adaptation. The 1980s classic, whose new home will be in Fuji TV's Noitamina midnight programming block in January 2026 , has announced five more cast members today: the "delinquents" who make up class 4's Bangumi. Nobuhiko Okamoto (Rin Okumura in Blue Exorcist ) joins the cast as Bangumi's leader, Yo Nihiruda. Kimengumi is the second installment in Shinzawa's Kimengumi (literally translated to "Funny Face Club") manga series. The first manga series, Sannen Kimengumi ("Third Year Funny-face Club" ) was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from October 1980 to April 1982. When the main characters enter high school, the title changed to High School! Kimengumi , and the sequel was serialized in the same magazine from April 1982 to July 1987. The first TV anime adaptation of High School! Kimengumi (the series featured some episodes from Sannen Kimengumi in the beginning) aired for 86 episodes from October 1985 to September 1987. The story centers on the five members of Kimen-gumi — Rei Ichido, Go Reietsu, Kiyoshi Shusse, Jin Daima, and Dai Monboshi — all attending Ichiou junior high school.
