Kimengumi Anime Remake The new TV anime series based on Motoei Shinzawa's High School! Kimengumi comedy manga series from the 1980s is set to premiere on Fuji TV's Noitamina midnight programming block in Japan on January 9, 2026. High School! Kimengumi is the second installment in Shinzawa's Kimengumi (literally translated to "Funny Face Club") manga series. The first manga series, Sannen Kimengumi ("Third Year Funny-face Club" ) was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from October 1980 to April 1982. When the main characters enter high school, the title changed to High School! Kimengumi , and the sequel was serialized in the same magazine from April 1982 to July 1987. The first TV anime adaptation of High School! Kimengumi (the series featured some episodes from Sannen Kimengumi in the beginning) aired for 86 episodes from October 1985 to September 1987. The story centers on the five members of Kimen-gumi — Rei Ichido, Go Reietsu, Kiyoshi Shusse, Jin Daima, and Dai Monboshi — all attendubg Ichiou junior high school.
