Summer is winding down, but it’s still been chock full of a lot of good series and of course, fun opening themes. I asked and you all delivered as I have the OPs that were voted as the best of the best for the summer season. Let’s run down the top 5 to see which OP was voted your favorite of this season! #5: My Dress-Up Darling – "Ao to Kirameki" by Spira Spica 6 percent Grab your favorite burger as it’s time to enjoy the cute nature of the latest My Dress-Up Darling opening. Not only do we get a fun track by Spira Spica, but the overall animation has a lot of fun quirks to it. From seeing Marin running around through different perspectives to the way the opening credits blend into various parts of the background, there’s a lot of fun to be had with this OP. Plus, we’re able to get a preview of some cosplays that we’ll see throughout this season, which is always a plus. #4: TO BE HERO X – "INERTIA" by SawanoHiroyuki[nZk]:Rei 7 percent Last season’s number two opening drops down a few spots this season, but is still one that you all really seem to enjoy. The song itself continues to be a banger with how easily it builds up to get you pumped up and ready to watch the latest episode and the animation changes it showcases are still really well done. It’s certainly hard to disagree with this being an OP that shows up two seasons in a row. #3: DAN DA DAN – "Kakumei Dōchū" by Aina the End 15 percent Certainly, the new DAN DA DAN opening is a different vibe than its predecessor, but it’s a vibe that fits this series. The slightly darker and more mysterious stylings of the OP fit in well with the strangeness that’s been found in this new season. Plus, the wild animation that’s shown off by Science Saru creates a cohesive unit that works well to get you hyped up for what Okarun, Momo, and the rest of the gang are going to get up to. #2: Let's Go Karaoke! – "HOWL" by Ayumu Imazu 15 percent With a series about going to karaoke to get better at singing, you certainly need a track that’s going to induce those feelings of wanting to get up and belt out a song. We’ve definitely got that with the OP for Let’s Go Karaoke! , which you could also say it might make you want to get up and dance as well with how groovy it is. This is a fun opening that is going to set you up to have a good time and by the time it’s over, you’re going to be in the right mood for each episode. #1: TOUGEN ANKI – "Overnight" by The Oral Cigarettes 18 percent TOUGEN ANKI ’s opening sure knows how to stand out with its vivid usage of colors all throughout this 90 seconds of animation. The way it’s able to use red throughout in a wide variety of ways is truly striking. Combining that with a track that you know is going to be good from The Oral Cigarettes and you’ve got a really good mix of animation and music that truly makes this OP one to remember. With how well it makes use of its animation, colors, music, and overall vibes, it’s easy to see why TOUGEN ANKI would be among your top 5 and the top OP of the summer season.
