On the road to the 25th anniversary of Bloody Disgusting in 2026, we want YOU to make a kickass horror short that brings our longtime mascot, Buzzkill, to the screen for the first time!
As Cineverse, Bloody Disgusting and Screambox plan the next season of horror anthology series Bloody Bites, we will make one fan’s macabre dreams come to life by accepting pitches from now until November 20, 2025 with a winner being announced in December.
Contestants can submit a pitch for a 40-minute short horror film where they bring Bloody Disgusting’s iconic Buzzkill character to life. Screambox and Bloody Disgusting will review all submissions and select the winning pitch to be awarded a $35,000 budget to produce their short film. The winning production team will also partner with professional special FX artists to bring Buzzkill to life utilizing top of the line materials and practical FX processes.
Streaming exclusively from Bloody Disgusting and Screambox, Bloody Bites is a compilation of snack-sized horror films that terrorize, astonish, disturb, and excite genre fans across the globe. The winner’s episode will premiere in October of 2026. For inspiration, fans can watch previous seasons of Bloody Bites on Screambox.
All pitches need to include:
- An outline or synopsis of your concept that includes the story, characters, setting and more. Remember, it must include Buzzkill as a central character and the short needs to be 40 minutes long.
- A pitch deck OR look book that includes reference images from other movies or photos, images of locations you plan to utilize and actors you would cast.
- A proposed budget breakdown that provides an itemized budget of $35,000 (practical special FX are separate from this).
- Two minute video telling Bloody Disgusting and SCREAMBOX why you should be selected
- Any additional info (ex. video links, IMDb profile, website)
