Proving its timeless appeal, Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein remains at the top of Netflix’s English film charts for a second week with over 62 million views to date.
Netflix is taking viewers inside the creation of a monster reborn with Frankenstein: The Anatomy Lesson, streaming now.
The 45-minute making-of documentary features insight from del Toro and many of his collaborators — including stars Oscar Isaac, Jacob Elordi, Mia Goth, Christoph Waltz, and Felix Kammerer — along with behind-the-scenes footage from the production.
Other interview subjects include producers J. Miles Dale and Scott Stuber, cinematographer Dan Laustsen, production designer Tamara Deverell, costume designer Kate Hawley, creature designer Mike Hill, composer Alexandre Desplat, and more.
In Frankenstein, brilliant but egotistical scientist Victor Frankenstein brings a creature to life in a monstrous experiment that ultimately leads to the undoing of both the creator and his tragic creation.
Meagan Navarro wrote in her review, “There’s no question that Frankenstein is absolutely breathtaking, with imagery and set pieces that instantly embed themselves in your memory. It showcases del Toro’s strength as a filmmaker, creating immersive worlds that enhance what he does best: championing monsters and their tragic humanity instead of using them to scare us.”
