Fresh off the release of Stephen King adaptation The Long Walk, Paramount is hoping you’ll run back to the theater next month for The Running Man, another adaptation of a King tale. This one’s directed by Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Last Night in Soho) and stars Glen Powell, and a brand new official poster has been released by Paramount this morning.
The Running Man will release in theaters on November 14, 2025.
Can Glen Powell survive 30 days while the entire world hunts him down?
“In a near-future society, The Running Man is the top-rated show on television—a deadly competition where contestants, known as Runners, must survive 30 days while being hunted by professional assassins, with every move broadcast to a bloodthirsty public and each day bringing a greater cash reward.
“Desperate to save his sick daughter, working-class Ben Richards (Glen Powell) is convinced by the show’s charming but ruthless producer, Dan Killian (Josh Brolin), to enter the game as a last resort. But Ben’s defiance, instincts, and grit turn him into an unexpected fan favorite—and a threat to the entire system.
“As ratings skyrocket, so does the danger, and Ben must outwit not just the Hunters, but a nation addicted to watching him fall.”
Colman Domingo (Candyman) and Katy O’Brian (Love Lies Bleeding) also star in the film, alongside Daniel Ezra, Karl Glusman, Lee Pace, Jayme Lawson, Michael Cera, Emilia Jones, William H. Macy, David Zayas, and Sean Hayes.
Edgar Wright wrote the script with Michael Bacall (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, 21 Jump Street). Chung-hoon Chung (Oldboy, It, Last Night in Soho) serves as cinematographer.
King’s novel, published under the pseudonym Richard Bachman, was released in 1982, loosely adapted into the same-titled Arnold Schwarzenegger-starring film back in 1987.
