Giallo-Inspired ‘SKINFREAK’ Stalks Steam on October 16

You won’t have to wait long for Puppet Combo and Jordan King aka Black Eyed Priest’s throwback slasher title SKINFREAK. After teasing fans on X earlier this week, Puppet Combo announced this morning that the game will be launching on October 16 on Steam.

Previously demoed for Patreon members earlier this year, SKINFREAK centers on Belle, who is called into work late one night by her boss to install new software in the Baun Plaza building on the edge of town. As luck would have it, the serial killer known as Skinfreak is on the prowl, and has his sights set on Belle. Can Belle survive this bloody night of terror and escape this maniac’s fleshy, rotting clutches?  Or will her very own skin become the newest addition to the killer’s collection?

Instead of riding around in a taxi for fares as in the original demo, you now explore the Baun Plaza, a new state of the art office building. You’ll be solving environmental puzzles using a classic inventory system that lets you drop, examine, and use items that you find as you explore the building. SKINFREAK also employs a note-taking system that keeps track of POIs around the game world, making it easier to remember what you need to do, as opposed to the “hand holding” objective lists of other games.

As is the norm for many of Puppet Combo’s slashers, you’ll also be interacting with a full cast of unique and creepy NPCs with a branching dialogue system. Plus, the game features a fully voice-acted cast.
