Gachiakuta Episode 8 Recap, “Moving Forward”

Based on the manga by Kei Urana and graffiti artist Hideyoshi Andou, Gachiakuta is the story of Rudo, a boy from the slums of an idyllic floating city known as the Sphere. Framed for a crime he didn’t commit and tossed into the rancid garbage pit far below the Sphere, Rudo will do whatever it takes to survive in the hellish depths so he can take revenge on the people who sent him there. GACHIAKUTA RECAP Gachiakuta Episode 8 Recap Summary The Gachiakuta After Show Podcast Episode 8 Previous Gachiakuta recaps He’s Getting Better Back at Cleaners HQ, Rudo sits on a bench alone, head hanging low. Enjin plops down next to him and starts chatting, but Rudo interrupts with a snarl. He’s frustrated that he couldn’t save Gris, just like he couldn’t save Regto. Enjin reminds the upset boy that he knew what he was getting into as a Cleaner. He stands and invites him inside to give Gris his respects. Rudo walks in and Gris greets him cheerfully. Wait, what? He’s just fine! Enjin laughs because he didn’t realize the moping boy thought Gris died. RELATED: Gachiakuta Anime Announces 5 New Voice Cast Members Rudo meets Eishia Stilza, who wields a vital instrument that heals. It’s a rare ability and the shy Giver is the only Cleaner who has it. Her power stabilized Gris, and he thanks her, Follo and Rudo for saving his life. He adds that Rudo shouldn’t feel bad about losing his talisman – he’s glad it was useful. The Boss A man enters Gris’ room and tells the gathered Cleaners that the Raiders might be conducting research into the Sphere. Rudo whispers to Enjin to ask who he is. It’s the boss! The leader of the Cleaners greets Rudo and introduces himself as Arkha Corvus, and recognizes that the boy put his own life on the line for the other Cleaners. He welcomes Rudo officially as a full member and invites him to his office for a change of clothes and some information he’ll be interested in. It’s said that anyone who tries to cross it will die, which is why it’s even more mysterious that Rudo survived the trip himself. Corvus has heard a rumor about an old woman who lives near the border; a traveler once encountered her, and she spoke of people who came and went across it without dying. Rudo decides to track down some of those survivors to find out how. Sweet on Sweets Enjin recommends training before Rudo rushes off to No Man’s Land. He’ll go with him when the time comes, especially since they’ll have trash beasts and Raiders to contend with. Rudo asks how the Raiders became Givers, and Enjin reminds him that even bad people can take good care of their things – enough to transform them into vital instruments. He suggests Rudo take a break for today. Riyo takes the chance to show him around HQ and offers him some sweets, which the boy has never tried before. One bite and he’s obsessed ! The Cleaner snatches it from him and demands more. His name is Dear, a man named Bro says as he apologizes on the boy’s behalf. Rudo continues to stuff his face and eventually rolls back to his room. Training Begins Later, Rudo struggles to activate his vital instrument as he holds a shiny knife. Zanka surmises that Rudo might only have a special connection to trash, so he sets out some well-used and broken items for the young Cleaner. He picks out a carpenter square and instantly activates its Anima. Zanka was right. Rudo activates two more objects – and then faints as blood gushes from his nose. His gloves have too much power for his body to handle with multiple objects activated. Zanka wonders if the “series” that Jabber mentioned has something to do with it. Riyo suggests that it’s because its true purpose was fulfilled, unlike these. Enjin sees the truth in her idea. She asks Rudo if his gloves have a name; after all, her vital instrument is called Ripper, Enjin’s is Umbreaker, and Zanka’s is Lovely Assistaff. Rudo’s never thought about it before… Elsewhere on the Ground, a man taps his foot impatiently. The Raiders Jabber and Cthoni, returning from their mission, greet him as their leader. His armor bears the same symbol as Rudo’s gloves – the Watchmen series, the leader reveals. What connection does Rudo have with the Raiders’ leader?
