He screams at the top of his lungs, twitching and writhing, and then launches toward Rudo. Rudo barely dodges Jabber’s clawed hands in time as his vital instrument remains motionless. Jabber’s theory was correct: the talisman won’t move if there’s no intent behind the attack. Rudo moves away from Follo and Gris, who’s clinging to life, to keep them safe. The boy keeps dodging Jabber’s berserk attacks as best he can, but he knows he’s in trouble. The madman’s pinned to the ground. Zanka, looking rough from the effect of Jabber’s poison, tells Rudo he has unfinished business with the Raider and wants to continue their fight. Zanka can barely move, but he has an idea. He’ll take a swing at Rudo and use the momentum to attack Jabber when the talisman pushes him away. Everything Hurts Jabber staggers to his feet again, and Zanka puts his idea to the test. Sure enough, as he swings his staff at Rudo, the talisman reacts. The Cleaner is launched in the air toward Jabber and he slams his staff into his face. Zanka’s happy to see his plan works, although Rudo’s… not. The Raider picks up Rudo, slings him over a shoulder, and leaps up through a hole in the ceiling. Zanka can only watch. The Cavalry As he lands on the floor above, the Raider notices that he’s suddenly outside – the rest of the building has been seemingly sliced away.
