Zanka, taking a break from the infirmary with a stroll, finds him staring at the downtrodden artist. Zanka asks if Rudo wants to go offer support, but the boy doesn’t think he’s the right person to do it. Zanka points out that he might have forgotten about finding Amo, but if he still wants to, trying to cheer up Remlin would be a good chance to learn how to hold out a hand to someone. Rudo sees Zanka’s point and runs off to try. He follows up with a lot of quickly muttered words that basically add up to ask if Remlin can give him some tips. The artist, teary-eyed, begins laughing. A Mission A little while later, Rudo, Remlin, Guita and Dear sit around a table, concentrating as they scribble drawings on paper. Their guardians play cards nearby. Semiu and the Cleaners’ leader, Corvus, walk in and can’t help smiling at the wholesome scene. Remlin grabs Rudo’s drawing of Regto and shows Corvus, who attempts to compliment it. (Semiu straight out says he can’t draw.) Remlin’s practicing a design that will be added to the historic spellcasters’ mural in Canvas Town. The image represents their generation. The artist is responsible for recruiting helpers and gathering materials, the mayor reminds Remlin. Semiu protests, but the leader assures her they can take care of themselves, especially with Rudo as their guardian. On a Field Trip They reach their first stop, Hole Town, to buy ink, and Rudo takes being the protector very seriously. He yells at the town that if anyone wants to fight, they’ll have to go through him. Enjin and Bro watch the kids from a nearby rooftop – no way they weren’t tagging along. Bro wonders why the boss sent them away when the Raiders might be looking to attack. Enjin mildly points out that the kids on their own look like such an obvious trap that the Raiders wouldn’t even try. Just then, he spots a familiar face: Fu, the former Raider. Moments later, a small group dressed in red approaches the door – the Hell Guard. After they enter, Semiu realizes that Corvus sent Rudo away with the kids so that the Hell Guard wouldn’t claim him. Their commander, a red-haired woman named Kyouka Nijiku, chides the Cleaners for the injuries the population sustained from the trash beast. Corvus calmly takes responsibility. Kyouka also wants the Sphereite, Rudo, to take him away and study him. Corvus declines. We All Scream In Hole Town, the Cleaner kids spot an ice cream shop. Rudo loses his mind, especially when he sees the candy shop nearby. Fu works up the courage to talk to them, encouraged by his small doll, Hii, which talks to him. A would-be kidnapper approaches the kids, trying to lure them with candy, but when Rudo realizes he doesn’t have any, he kicks the creep squarely in the ice cream cone. Hii wisely suggests approaching the kids in Canvas Town instead. They finally reach Canvas Town, having spent most of the day walking there. (Remlin is gassed.) The mayor greets them. As they enter through a tunnel, Rudo asks where the spellcasters’ mural is. Remlin points up with a sly smile – it’s on the ceiling! Bro and Enjin enter the tunnel as Fu watches from outside the city. They all look at the mural, including the drawing by the original spellcaster, Macaca Icol. Rudo, shocked, tells them his last name is Surebrec. Elsewhere, Amo is alone in the dark, chained to the wall of a prison cell.
