Zodyl, the leader of the Raiders, reveals to Rudo that he’s been trying to create his own vital instrument in the Watchman series. Amo’s boots, Rudo’s gloves and Zodyl’s coat are the current three pieces. He presses the boots against the glowing object, triggering it to grow offshoots that attach to the walls. He wasn’t able to create a new item in the series, Zodyl continues, but something did result from his experiment: an artificial trash beast using the item he activated as a core. He reminds Rudo that he’s seen at least one before . Only Regto, his adoptive dad, shared kind words and cared for Rudo’s scarred and painful hands. One day, he gave Rudo the gloves to protect them. In the present, the boy recalls that Regto also had a book with the Watchman symbol on the cover. Experiments Zodyl says the vital instruments are in a class of their own and Rudo can’t help wondering how Regto found such a powerful item. The Raiders’ leader finds it interesting that the boy kept his sanity, unlike previous Watchman owners like Amo’s captor . The set was created and used by one person, and Zodyl muses how a person had to live to make something so powerful. Perhaps he and Rudo lost a part of their humanity that keeps the items from driving them mad. He asks, what would happen if someone now wore all the Watchman vital instruments? The glowing object is the core of an imitation trash beast, using the vital instrument he created as the source of its power. Zodyl supplements it by adding more instruments, including Amo’s boots. Rudo realizes they’re inside the trash beast and it’s preparing to take flight to the Sphere. Battle Time The young Cleaner Guita has been hiding nearby and eavesdropping this entire time, but when she hears they’re inside a trash beast, excitement takes over. She pops out and begins yelling that it’s kaiju battle time. Elsewhere, Enjin turns away from his erstwhile opponent Fu to look for the other Cleaners. Fu trails behind, asking if he’s sure he doesn’t want to fight. The cowardly Raider reveals that they’re inside a trash beast and Enjin’s cool facade breaks in disbelief. Bro wonders if it’s Santa’s fidgeting causing it, which sounds preposterous to Bundus. He tells the Cleaners that they’re inside a trash beast and going to the Sphere together. Their demeanor immediately changes and Santa’s eyes begin to glow. What Cleaners Do Enjin apologizes to Fu for not wanting to fight; their foes aren’t humans, but trash beasts. Now that they know they’re inside one, the Cleaners switch to battle mode. The massive, crowlike trash beast opens its eyes as it prepares to take off. Bro and Santa activate their vital instruments: Bro’s headband, Cloth, and Santa’s pacifier, Centralian. Bundus suddenly understands their fighting spirit is motivated by trash beasts. Santa pauses a moment to wonder why they don’t need masks inside a toxic trash beast and Bundus wants to know, too. Bundus watches in confusion as Santa lands a punch on the rocky wall with a gentle tap. He slides down the wall, his punches landing with soft pats, and Bundus admonishes Bro for indulging a child in fantasies. Bro says it’s worse to not let him make progress. Santa’s power increases the more he hits something, so his punches begin to shatter the wall, to Bundus’ amazement.
