What happened to Katie? Find out when the fresh take on the classic monster hits theaters on April 17 via Warner Bros.

The poster was accompanied by a cryptic Morse code message from Cronin:

“In ancient Egyptian civilization, dark spirits and visions of the dead were never an illusion. Some that passed over were gone forever, but an unlucky few were consumed by a darkness far more evil than anyone could have ever imagined. Today it begins.”

Jack Reynor (Midsommar), Laia Costa (“The Wheel of Time”), May Calamawy (“Moon Knight”), Veronica Falcón (“Ozark”), May Elghety (Clash), Natalie Grace (“1923”), Shylo Molina (“The Afterparty”), Billie Roy (Spirit Halloween: The Movie), and Hayat Kamille (“Vikings: Valhalla”) star.

“This is a very different kind of Mummy movie,” Cronin tells IGN, who revealed the new stills. “It’s an insane mashup to suggest, but [the film is] almost one part Poltergeist and one part Seven, but put through my lens and the way that I like to entertain people.”

He continues, “When I talk about Poltergeist, what I mean is the domestic circumstances and the warmth of the family. And when I talk about Seven, what I mean is the dark, investigative angle and the secrets that exist behind it. And they are two aspects within two different tram lines, but two places that I love and I’m trying to bring them together in center court.”

The project is the first under the recent Blumhouse-Atomic Monster merger, with the companies producing and co-financing for New Line Cinema. James Wan, Jason Blum, and John Keville are producing alongside Cronin under his Doppelgängers banner.
