Final Week of Kickstarter Campaign for Action RPG ‘THE HORROR’ [Trailer]

Touted as “Diablo II meets The Cabin in the Woods,” Titan1Studios is currently in the final week of its Kickstarter campaign for THE HORROR, a dark and atmospheric Action RPG designed by industry veteran Blair Renaud, aka Anticleric. Renaud, an Ex-Technical Director at Rockstar Toronto and a BAFTA-Award winner, is leveraging his pedigree in open-world and technical design to craft a chilling homage to classic ’80s and ’90s horror films.

Currently available to wishlist on Steam, THE HORROR promises to immerse players in a world drenched in dread, inspired by the gritty aesthetics and unsettling narratives of VHS-era horror. Summoned by cultists on Halloween night, who have torn a rift through to ‘The Other Side’, you’ve been set loose in suburban neighborhoods, wooded areas complete with cabins, sleepaway camps and more. You’ll build power through fear. The more blood you spill and terror you spread, the blurrier the lines between the world we call home and The Other Side become. You’ll face other increasingly difficult horrors as they pour into the land of the living, bringing their cursed loot and ill gotten gains with them.

You’ll choose from three base classes inspired by classic horror villains from the likes of Friday the 13th, Halloween, A Nightmare on Elm Street, The Evil Dead and more. As in the case of Blizzard’s classic, you’ll be killing and looting a variety of enemies, which can drop a variety of loot. From chainsaws to severed limbs, machetes to bladed gloves and hockey masks, each item in the game has a chance to roll with rare and random affixes and abilities.

Renaud’s vision will be further supported by actress Lovina, best known for her roles in “The Boys”, and Shazam!, she joins THE HORROR as both a lead actress and a creative collaborator. The cast will also feature Kyle Bailey (The Dark Pictures: Little Hope) and actor Erik Knudsen (Saw II, Scream 4).

This project is a love letter to the golden age of horror, combined with the kind of deep, satisfying gameplay loop that comes from games like Diablo 2,” says Renaud. “With THE HORROR, we’re not just making a game; we’re bottling the atmosphere of a worn-out rental tape and injecting it into a modern, compelling ARPG framework. Titan1Studios has been the perfect partner to realize this vision.

The Kickstarter campaign aims to secure the final funding needed to complete development, offering backers exclusive rewards, early access to the game, and the chance to directly influence the creation of the game. Backers will receive exclusive in-game items that wont available to anyone else after launch.
