Exorcise Ghosts as a Cat in Horror Adventure Title ‘The Way Home’

Horror gamers need more cat games, obviously. Apart from Stray, which admittedly isn’t fully horror, there’s a serious lack of cat horror games. Developer Joyful Calamity is looking to remedy that later this month with The Way Home, arriving October 30 on PC and consoles.

Not much info is available yet about the game, but according to the Japanese game website Dengeki Gamer, The Way Home has you playing as a cat who is able to see supernatural phenomena. You are searching haunted properties around Tokyo where someone has died alone in order to find the soul of your owner. Problem is, supernatural entities appear as you do your exploring. You need to keep staring relentlessly at these entities until they are exorcised.

Some of the entities that appear in the game are out to kill the cat. Luckily, in addition to being able to “stare” them away, you do have your trusty claws. Even stranger is that the game uses a “claw gauge,” which you can recover by using “damaged walls” and “cardboard” placed on the map.

If that’s not enough cat abilities for you, you can also “sniff” around while exploring to follow traces of strange happenings.

Again, not much info as of yet, but you can keep tabs on Joyful Calamity’s X account for the game for further updates.
