EXCLUSIVE: Lone Wolf & Cub Deluxe Edition Manga Volumes on the Way from Dark Horse

Kazuo Koike and Goseki Kojima’s classic samurai manga Lone Wolf & Cub is officially getting the deluxe treatment. Dark Horse has announced  the frequently-requested Lone Wolf & Cub Deluxe Editions , with the first to arrive this December. Lone Wolf & Cub Deluxe Edition Volume 1 will include the first two volumes of the series and some of the third on December 10 for $54.99. Volume 2 will follow on March 24, 2026 with more of volume 3 and volumes 4-5. The volumes feature translation by Dana Lewis with lettering by Studio Cutie. Here’s a sample of the non-final cover art for the first two: The original Lone Wolf and Cub manga debuted in 1970 and ran for 28 volumes. The acclaimed series went on to inspire six live-action films between 1972 and 1974, with Tomisaburo Wakayama taking on the iconic lead role. There was also a TV series, and the first two films were compiled into the notorious English-dubbed Shogun Assassin film in 1980. Here’s how Dark Horse describes the first deluxe volume: Ōgami Ittō, once the shogun’s executioner, has fallen from grace after false accusations by a rival clan. With his wife murdered and with his three-year-old son to protect, he chooses the path of the ronin, the masterless samurai. Together, the lone wolf and his cub wander feudal Japan. All roads will lead them to a single destination—vengeance.  Source: Email correspondence
