Another short but sweet Lovecratftian-inspired psychological horror game is on the way in Loom Studios’ Myth of Valderit. Coming to Steam and the Epic Games Store next year, Myth of Valderit boasts a unique experience with its adaptive AI that dynamically alters visual and gameplay elements to “bring out the worst in every individual,” providing a different game experience for each player.
Players assume the role of Nil, who on a trip with friends that starts in the forest, falls asleep and awakens in 1693 in Valderit, a village inspired by La Mussara, a real abandoned village in Tarragona, Catalonia. Separated from your friends, Julia and Enric, you soon discover the dark secrets of this cursed village, which is home to a mysterious sect.
Together with its adaptive AI mechanic, Myth of Valderit combines exploration, survival elements, and puzzle-solving. The AI system constantly changes between four types inspired by the four ways that humans respond to fear: fight, flight, freeze, or fawn.
Nil will have to survive and avoid being chased by the sect of Slygaroth without no weapon to defend from them. And seeing as Lovecraft is involved, you must also deal with the game’s sanity mechanic, which distorts perception, moves walls and objects, and conjures hallucinations.
Currently, Loom Studios is working on a demo for Myth of Valderit, which is set to be released soon.
