Eisner Awards Go to Taiyo Matsumoto’s Tokyo These Days, Yuna Hirasawa’s My Journey to Her Manga

Following yesterday’s induction of horror manga author Junji Ito into the Will Eisner Comic Awards Hall of Fame, this year's main Eisner Awards ceremony was held. Among the many winners were manga creators Taiyo Matsumoto and Yuna Hirasawa, who won for Tokyo These Days and My Journey to Her , respectively. Matsumoto won for Tokyo These Days volumes 1-3 in the Best U.S. Edition of International Material – Asia category. Hirasawa won for My Journey to Her in the Best Digital Comic category.  Godzilla even took home an award. Godzilla’s 70th Anniversary , an anthology by Jake Williams and others, won an Eisner for Best Anthology. That one is available to read via Kodansha . Taiyo Matsumoto—also known for Tekkonkinkreet , No. 5 , Ping Pong , Sunny and more—serialized Tokyo These Days from 2019-2023. The series is available via VIZ Media . Matsumoto has won numerous awards over the years, including two Eisners in 2008 and 2020 for Tekkonkinkreet and Cats of the Louvre , respectively.
