Sou Akaie's original Easygoing Territory Defense by the Optimistic Lord: Production Magic Turns a Nameless Village into the Strongest Fortified City novel has been serialized on the user-generated novel publishing website Shousetsuka ni Narou since May 2020. Overlap started publishing the novel from its Overlap Novels imprint in September 2021, and so far eight volumes have been available in Japan. And a manga adaptation illustrated by Maro Aoiro has been serialized on Overlap's Comic Gardo manga service since August 2021, releasing seven volumes to date. Seven Seas Entertainment, which has licensed both the novel and manga, describes the synopsis as such: Van, fourth son of a marquis, is just a toddler when he realizes he’s been reincarnated.
