The first Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle anime film opened on July 18 in Japan and broke every single opening weekend box office record in the country, as well as the single-day box office revenue record, according to a press release from Aniplex. The movie is also already the second highest-grossing film in Japan for 2025. On Friday, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle opened to 1.64 billion yen (US$11.11 million) based on 1.15 million tickets sold, giving the film the number one Japan box office opening day record. On Saturday, the movie then made 1.84 billion yen (US$12.47 million) on 1.26 million tickets sold. Sunday was Infinity Castle ’s highest-grossing single day of the four-day holiday weekend, with 2.03 billion yen (US$13.76 million) brought in on 1.42 million tickets sold. The Sunday performance set the single-day box office revenue record and also cemented the film as the highest-grossing three-day opening weekend of all time in Japanese theaters with 5.52 billion yen (US$37.42 million) on 3.84 million tickets sold. Finally, on the Monday public holiday, the film made 1.79 billion yen (US$12.13 million) on 1.32 million tickets sold, bringing the four-day total to 7.31 billion yen (US$49.55 million) with 5.16 million tickets sold. As of writing, this makes the film the second-highest-grossing film of the year in Japan in just four days behind Detective Conan: One-eyed Flashback ’s 14.47 billion yen total box office , making half of the first film’s entire gross in just one weekend. Infinity Castle has broken every opening weekend record set by Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba —The Movie: Mugen Train , the previous film in the franchise. The film opened in October 2020 in Japanese theaters at half-capacity due to the COVID-19 pandemic, earning 4.62 billion yen (US$43.8 million) over three days and held that record until this weekend.
