Chuck Russell’s ‘Witchboard’ Remake Will Be Summoned on Digital Next Month

From director Chuck Russell (A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, The Blob), Witchboard will be available on Digital beginning September 16 from Paramount.

Russell co-wrote the reimagining of the 1986 horror cult classic with Greg McKay.

After a young woman unearths an ancient spirit board, those closest to her begin dying in sudden, shocking ways. Now, her remaining friends must stop the curse—before it takes them all.

Madison Iseman (Annabelle Comes Home), Aaron Dominguez (“Only Murders in the Building”), Melanie Jarnson (Mortal Kombat), Charlie Tahan (“Ozark”), Antonia Desplat (“The Sandman”), and Jamie Campbell Bower (“Stranger Things”) star.

Witchboard is rated “R” for strong bloody violence, gore, language, drug content, some sexual content, and brief nudity.

Joe Lipsett wrote in his review,”Witchboard is messy and uneven, scattered in both narrative and performance, but fun enough to lightly recommend. It’s not the slam dunk horror fans were hoping for from Russell’s return, but as a lightly schlocky ‘turn your brain off and just enjoy’ title, it mostly fits the bill.”
