Chainsmoker Cat Anime Adaptation Announced for July 2026

Think your cat is weird? At least they don't have a smoking habit! An anime adaptation of Nyan Nyan Factory's Chainsmoker Cat manga (released as YaniNeko in Japan) explores the life of a catgirl who just can't seem to get it together. A teaser trailer and visual gives us our first look at chainsmoking catgirl Yani in action: Chainsmoker Cat Anime Teaser Trailer Chainsmoker Cat Teaser Visual Voice actor Yuko Natsuyoshi (Julia in Hana-Kimi , Sasha Necron in The Misfit of Demon King Academy ) will voice Yani. More cast members will be announced at a later date. Yani character art Studio Lemon's Taku Kimura ( Star Wars: Visions – "Tattooine Rhapsody") directs Chainsmoker Cat at Bibury Animation Studios, with Takashi Aoshima ( The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You ) in charge of series composition. Riki Matsuura (devil design, Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc ) handles character designs and Keiichi Suzuki ( Saint Young Men ) composes the music. The series is set to premiere in Japan in July 2026. Seven Seas Entertainment publishes the official English translation of Nyan Nyan Factory's original manga, describing it thus: Where there’s smoke, there’s a catgirl chainsmoking in this comedy manga! A look at the daily troubles of one catgirl and her attempts to get her life together. Welcome to Yani’s apartment. Please don’t mind the smell. Yani is a catgirl with a seriously bad smoking habit.
