We already knew Kenshi Yonezu would be back with more music for the upcoming Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc , and today the movie's accounts announced that the singer/songwriter will collaborate with Hikaru Utada for the film's new ending theme, titled "JANE DOE." However, as the song began to take shape, it became evident that no one was better suited to it than Utada-san, so I reached out to them. The moment Utada-san’s voice—melancholic, yet sweeping like a gust of wind—came in over the track, I remember being so moved that I let out a sharp gasp. As a songwriter, I feel truly honored to have been given this opportunity." Utada also offered their comments on the exciting collaboration: "I knew I had to give it a go when I received this offer. Both of us being uncompromising singer-songwriters, we knew better than anybody else where the other comes from, but also faced the challenge of meeting halfway where our styles, as we found in the process, contrast. I hope everyone can feel the new sides that were brought out in us, as we remained true to ourselves and each other." Hiroshi Seko returns to write the script along with Kazutaka Sugiyama as Character Designer, all at MAPPA. Souta Yamazaki and Shun work as the Sub Character Designer, with Sota Shigetsugu as Action Animation Director and Shoichi as the Main Animator. Riki Matsuura will design the devils alongside Look Back director Kiyotaka Oshiyama. Chainsaw Man —The Movie: Reze Arc will premiere in Japan in September and then be released internationally starting September 24. Sony Pictures will release the film in the United States on October 29. The Chainsaw Man TV anime premiered in Japan in October 2022. Crunchyroll currently streams the series and describes the story: Denji is a teenage boy living with a Chainsaw Devil named Pochita. Due to the debt his father left behind, he has been living a rock-bottom life while repaying his debt by harvesting devil corpses with Pochita. One day, Denji is betrayed and killed.
