Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc opened in Japanese theaters last Friday and has sliced up the box office since, as it opened at number one in the Japanese weekend box office . As of September 21, Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc made a total of 1.251 billion yen (US$8.45 million) with 807,000 tickets sold, according to the official Chainsaw Man accounts and Kogyo Tsushinsha . It is the third biggest opening weekend of 2025 behind Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle, at 5.52 billion yen , and Detective Conan: One-eyed Flashback, at 3.43 billion yen . Oricon reported from a stage event on Saturday that the Chainsaw Man film made 420 million yen (US$2.83 million) from 272,000 tickets sold on its opening day. The voice actors at the event projected that the film would make at least 5 billion yen by the end of its Japanese run. As a point of comparison, Weathering With You opened to 1.64 billion yen in 2019 and eventually finished at 14.06 billion yen; Suzume opened to 1.884 billion yen in 2022 for a full return of 14.94 billion yen and THE FIRST SLAM DUNK premiered to 1.296 billion yen in 2022 and finished at 16.48 billion yen. Souta Yamazaki and Shun work as the Sub Character Designer, with Sota Shigetsugu as Action Animation Director and Shoichi as the Main Animator. Riki Matsuura will design the devils alongside Look Back director Kiyotaka Oshiyama. Following a September 19 debut in Japan, Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc will kick off its international screenings on September 24.
