Re: Frankenstein is an audio drama adaptation of Frankenstein from the team behind Re: Dracula and Re: Carmilla, which is crowdfunding now! Featuring an award-winning all-trans cast, Re: Frankenstein will bring this Gothic masterpiece to glorious un-life.
This horror audio drama will be a faithful, text-accurate adaptation of Mary Shelley’s novel, featuring a full cast to tug on your heartstrings and sound design to keep you on the edge of your seat. The team says, “We had such a great time adapting these two gothic novels and we can’t wait to take on something less vampiric and a little more… monstrous? Or perhaps it’s a little more human.”
Re: Frankenstein stars Sena Bryer (Final Fantasy XIV) as Victor Frankenstein and Josie D. Sumner (The Sheridan Tapes) as The Monster, rounding out the cast with Asha Lloyd (Among the Stars and Bones) as Elizabeth Frankenstein, Sam Stark (Shelterwood) as Henry Clerval, and Fay Roberts (The Magnus Archives) as Robert Walton.
The cast list can be viewed in full on the crowdfunding page.
Tal Minear, Stephen Indrisano, and Hannah Wright return as executive producers, with Emma Johanna Puranen and Lauren Shippen (The Bright Sessions, Bridgewood) directing and Amber Devereux composing original music. Stephen Indrisano is dialogue editing and Tal Minear is sound designing, repeating their team up in Re: Dracula, which has seen over two million downloads and been an official selection of nearly twenty film and web festivals. The show was featured on Tumblr’s 2023 and 2024 year in review, and Tor.com called it “a spectacular podcast.” The producers plan to bring the same level of love and dedication to Re: Frankenstein.
Each chapter of Frankenstein will be an episode of Re: Frankenstein, which will be released for free on all podcast platforms in Fall 2026. However, those who help fund the project will get additional perks, including a full audiobook, digital downloads, shout-outs, and more. The producers say, “We believe that now is the time to lift and celebrate trans voices and artists; to tell stories about monsters and those who get to define them; and to pay everyone involved a fair and equitable wage. Your support will go directly towards our incredible cast and crew.”
If you like scientific malpractice, yelling at Victor Frankenstein for his crimes, oddly soothing horror audio drama, and indie audio fiction, check out the Re: Frankenstein Indiegogo page. The team needs to hit their $10k goal to keep what they’ve raised.
Meanwhile, keep an eye out for Re: Frankenstein next fall!
