Nintendo dropped some unexpected Animal Crossing news this morning with the reveal that Animal Crossing: New Horizons is on the way to Nintendo Switch 2 early next year. Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition launches on January 15, 2026 alongside a free content update that will be available in both versions. The Switch 2 version promises a number of improvements, including visual upgrades, optional mouse controls, online play for up to 12 players, CameraPlay and even an in-game megaphone that lets you locate residents by calling their name. The digital or physical release will be priced at $64.99. If you already have a copy of the original you’ll be able to pay $4.99 for an upgrade pack. Select the size and layout of the island, build and design it collaboratively, access your inventory and decorate, plus invite residents from your home island. Collaborations : Collect Nintendo items like the Ultra Hand and Nintendo consoles in-game to add some classic flair to your island. Nintendo Switch Online members can play select classic Nintendo titles in-game when interacting with specific Nintendo console items, too! LEGO® items will also make their debut with this update.
