Angel's Egg 4K Restoration Edition Trailer The film's official X (formerly Twitter) also announced that the reprint edition of the film's art book originally released in 1985, titled "THE ART OF Tenshi no Tamago," will be available at the price of 4,950 yen (33 USD) at Japanese bookstores on October 10. The 192-page book contains illustrations and filmmaking articles that encapsulate the worldview of the anime film. Additionally, internationally acclaimed Japanese filmmaker Shunji Iwai ( Swallowtail Butterfly, LOVE LETTER ) shared the following comment on Angel's Egg : 1985. Forty years after defeat, Nippon had become the world's second-largest economic powerhouce before we knew it. We were intoxicated by the infinite possibilities of music, comics, and anime, viewing this world and our ordinary daily lives through them. This film is by no means an optimistic one, yet it encapsulates the unique belief for the future, which was characteristic of that era, preserved like a fossil. The title “Angel's Egg” is likely also a metaphor for a time capsule launched toward the future. Another 40 years have passed since then. They say this time capsule will be revived in 4K. What will today's young people think? My curiosity about that never ends.
