And Now, a Special ‘Toxic Avenger’ Message from Kevin Bacon…

The Toxic Avenger’s journey from toxic waste to cult legend has been a wild one these last few decades, with Troma originally introducing the mutated superhero way back in 1984. That was just four years after a young Kevin Bacon got throat-stabbed in the original slasher classic Friday the 13th, and all these years later, Bacon is now joining The Toxic Avenger franchise!

Over 40 years after the original Troma cult classic, The Toxic Avenger is returning to the big screen with its biggest movie to date, an unrated experience from director Macon Blair that’s being unleashed by Cineverse and Bloody Disgusting on August 29. You’ll only be able to see it up on the big screen, and Kevin Bacon wants to make sure you show the fuck up.

Kevin Bacon beamed a special video message into San Diego Comic-Con over the weekend during our Toxic Avenger Hall H panel, and this week we’ve uploaded that video to YouTube.

“I’m absolutely thrilled The Toxic Avenger is finally coming to theaters,” Bacon begins the video message. “It’s such a fun movie, and I am such a big supporter of us going out and going to theaters and seeing films like this. And if you like this kind of content, you gotta get to the theater and you gotta support it, and support the filmmakers.”

Bacon calls The Toxic Avenger “a hilarious, punk, fun, bloody ride.” He also sings a little song about the film with the help of his salt shaker, but you’ll have to watch the video below for that.

Primetime Emmy-winning actor Peter Dinklage stars as the Toxic Avenger in director Macon Blair’s new movie, a fresh take on the cult classic franchise originally birthed by Troma.
