Based on the manga by Kei Urana and graffiti artist Hideyoshi Andou, Gachiakuta is the story of Rudo, a boy from the slums of an idyllic floating city known as the Sphere. Framed for a crime he didn’t commit and tossed into the rancid garbage pit far below the Sphere, Rudo will do whatever it takes to survive in the hellish depths so he can take revenge on the people who sent him there. GACHIAKUTA RECAP Gachiakuta Episode 20 Recap Summary The Gachiakuta After Show Podcast Episode 19 Previous Gachiakuta recaps Dear Boy A massive cyclone surges outside while the artificial trash beast prepares to take off for the Sphere. Inside, the amiable Raider Bundus faces off against Bro and Dear , and he’s astonished to see a boy as small as Dear blast a hole into the solid wall. Bundus laughs in delight, then activates his vital instrument, Hands. Six floating mechanical hands form around him. The Raider breaks free of Bro’s Cloth and says he’s going to stop them so he can get a prize. Bundus, Bro and Dear plummet downward, dodging pieces of garbage falling with them. Bro catches Dear mid-air. Bundus intends to continue their fight when the three find themselves swept inside a falling car. They exchange confused glances and start yelling. Backseat Driver Bundus shouts at Bro, who’s sitting in the front seat, to dodge the other debris. Bro tries twisting the steering wheel out of instinct and the wheels turn back and forth uselessly. The car lands with a thud on a flat surface, careening in different directions. Bundus yells at Bro — who yells right back — and tries to take the wheel with his Hands, but it’s broken loose. When Dear flies from the car, Bundus grabs him and hauls him back in. The car tumbles through the air while its occupants panic. Bro uses his Cloth to swing the car around a stationary telephone pole and flings it inside the pipe — where Enjin stares at them, mouth agape. Bundus, Bro and Dear attempt to catch their breath. Enjin demands to know why they’re off on a road trip with a Raider. Re-Connecting Bundus spots Fu, the cowardly young Raider, face down on the ground. As Fu tearfully admits that Enjin won’t attack him no matter what he does, Bundus pinches the bridge of his nose. Bro interrupts to tell Enjin that they have to escape from the trash beast so they don’t die when they cross the border to the Sphere. Dear, fiddling with his choker, manages to connect to Semiu back at Cleaners HQ. Semiu scolds him for letting everyone get kidnapped and he dutifully apologizes. He’ll make himself seen so they can find each other and escape together. He’s the ensign (Enjin), after all. Semiu lets him know that backup is on the way. Found Family The chamber that Rudo and Zodyl stood in has rotated 90 degrees, leaving the boy dangling from a stalagmite by one hand. The Raiders’ leader appeals to him one more time to join him since he needs his knowledge of the Sphere. He can help him find revenge, while the Cleaners will only focus on trash beasts, he tells Rudo. The boy is silent while he looks at Guita lying unconscious below. He doesn’t want to waste anything. Not even their meeting is a waste, he says. It helped him realize that he has something Zodyl doesn’t, a team that holds out their hands to him and gives him a home. He’ll never forget his anger and hatred, but now he has more to live for. He lets go and falls into the darkness below. Enraged, Zodyl gives chase and activates his vital instrument, his coat. He angrily asks Rudo where his team is right now, if they’re so important — just as Enjin bursts through the ground.
