Chiikawa Anime Film Based on "Siren Arc" Announced

Nagano's Chiikawa mascot manga is making the leap to the big screen! The upcoming film Eiga Chiikawa: Ningyo no Shima no Himitsu ( Chiikawa the Movie: The Secret of Mermaid Island ) will adapt the manga's longest story arc — known as the "Siren Arc" or "Island Arc." Cygames Pictures ( Umamusume Pretty Derby: Beginning of a New Era ) will produce the upcoming film. A teaser visual for the upcoming project shows Chiikawa, Hachiware and Usagi setting sail for adventure: Eiga Chiikawa: Ningyo no Shima no Himitsu Teaser Visual RELATED: Chiikawa Mascot Series Gets Magical Girl Makeover in New Music Video The manga's Siren Arc follows Chiikawa and friends to an island that promises rewards and "basically free" food in exchange for a few simple tasks. The original story ran from March to November of 2023. To celebrate the announcement, Nagano has shared colorful new artwork of the film's main cast: Illustration and comments by Nagano RELATED: You and Idol Precure♪ Anime Announces Star-Studded Appreciation Festival Haruka Aoki, Makoto Tanaka and Ari Ozawa will continue to voice Chiikawa, Hachiware and Usagi respectively. Kei Oikawa ( Umamusume: Pretty Derby ) directs Eiga Chiikawa: Ningyo no Shima no Himitsu at Cygames Pictures. Nagano will pen the screenplay. More cast and crew will be announced at a later date.
