Launching into Early Access on Steam way back in January, fans of Fatbot Games’ old-school shooter Gravelord can finally unleash their creativity with the game’s level editor. Originally introduced through a limited playtest, the editor is now open to everyone, enabling players and creators to build custom levels for Gravelord using a simplified workflow inspired by the Quake Engine level editor TrenchBoom that’s designed for fast, creative, block-based mapmaking.
The editor features intuitive geometry tools and unique “hotspotting” functionality for quick texturing and arting. Built to be approachable for newcomers, but powerful enough for veteran mappers, the tool includes full Steam Workshop support, allowing anyone to create, share, and explore community-made content.
And to celebrate the launch, Fatbot Games is hosting the Gravelord Halloween Mapjam 2025, which is on now until November 23, featuring cash prizes and open participation. You don’t even need to own a copy of Gravelord to participate. Info on the Mapjam and its rules can be found here.
Taking inspiration from the likes of Quake, Gravelord puts players in the shoes of Queedo the Gravedigger, who’s dumb as hell, strong as an ox, and has a mouth like Duke Nukem to go along with it. Queedo sets out to avenge his father while using his shovel and various other weapons to beat the living crap out of his enemies. He also has Tarot Cards that you can collect to boost your power level and combat options, as well as weapon upgrades to unlock additional fire modes and synergies.
