After being bumped from its original September release, developer Necrosoft Games and publisher Ysbryd Games have finally launched their Persona-like tactics RPG Demonschool for PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, and the Nintendo Switch. The Steam release coincides with a 10% launch discount from now until December 3.
Fight monsters as Faye, a college freshman…and the last heir to a legendary demon-hunting family. Get to the bottom of a prophesied demonic apocalypse by taking part in supernatural investigations and grid-based tactical battles alongside newfound allies. Survive a semester of boss fights, pop quizzes, and karaoke hangouts in a stylish world inspired by the psychedelic colors of giallo films and Japanese horror manga.
“This has been a labor of love (and a little bit of hate) for everyone involved for so long now,” said Brandon Sheffield, Creative Director at Necrosoft Games. “This is the biggest game we’ve ever made and it’s hard to believe it’s actually out. We made the game we set out to make, and all I can say is I hope it meets your expectations.”
In keeping with its Persona inspiration, you’ll befriend 15 playable characters to bring the best party to every challenge. Forge ironclad bonds to produce flashy combos in battle when teammates’ paths collide. Master powerful abilities like Faye’s enthusiastic kicks and Varka’s enemy-yanking chains. Take on side quests and bring allies to training sessions to boost their skills and create an unstoppable team.
You’ll be sending gruesome ghouls and gigantic bosses back through the breach while maneuvering party members through battles on a chess-like playfield that mixes 2D pixel art and 3D realms. Guide teammates’ paths in the Planning phase to set off their abilities as they meet enemies in the Action phase. For the perfectionists out there, you can take advantage of unlimited rewinds, then watch every play and combo unfold in a simultaneous collective effort. Seek the truth and smash demons on the path to the game’s 13 different endings.
