Mascot horror fans will have something to nibble on early next year with DangerousBob Studio’s upcoming survival horror title Monterey Jack, which will be headed to Steam, PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series on February 9. A demo is also available on the game’s Steam page.
Described as “Willy Wonka meets Hell,” the story sees you trapped trapped in a cheese factory, with your best friend missing, and you’re being hunted by a giant cheese man who wants you dead. Obviously, you’ll need to find your friend and escape. Making things difficult is the eponymous Monterey Jack, who relentlessly pursues you throughout the factory.
Aiding Jack is his army of cheese zombies, which thankfully you can deal with by chopping them up. However, you’ll still need to work for it, as each enemy has its own weak points, so be accurate with your hits to stagger foes and inflict maximum damage. Lucky for you, the factory has plenty of makeshift weapons lying around for you to use, such as slingshots, nail guns, and kitchen knives.
In addition to featuring multiple endings, Monterey Jack also has a survival mode. Players have to run from Jack and survive for as long as they can, with their time going up on the game’s leaderboard.
