An impossible mission yields an unlikely friendship in the second trailer for Project Hail Mary.
Set to Oasis‘ “Champagne Supernova,” the preview sees Ryan Gosling as a sixth grade science teacher turned unwitting astronaut who teams up with an extraterrestrial being to save not just Earth but the galaxy at large.
Filmed for IMAX, the epic sci-fi adventure launches into theaters on March 20, 2026 via Amazon MGM Studios.
Based on the 2021 novel by Andy Weir (The Martian), Phil Lord & Christopher Miller (The LEGO Movie, 21 Jump Street) direct from a script by Drew Goddard (The Cabin in the Woods, The Martian).
Science teacher Ryland Grace wakes up on a spaceship light years from home with no recollection of who he is or how he got there. As his memory returns, he begins to uncover his mission: solve the riddle of the mysterious substance causing the sun to die out.
He must call on his scientific knowledge and unorthodox ideas to save everything on Earth from extinction… but an unexpected friendship means he may not have to do it alone.
Sandra Hüller, Lionel Boyce, Ken Leung, and Milana Vayntrub round out the cast.
Lord, Miller, Gosling, and Weir produce alongside Amy Pascal, Aditya Sood, and Rachel O’Connor. Executive producers include Goddard, Patricia Whitcher, Sarah Esberg, Lucy Kitada, Nikki Baida, and Ken Kao.
