While “The Creep Tapes” shows no signs of slowing down — it’s second season premieres tomorrow, and a third season is already confirmed for 2026 — creators Patrick Brice and Mark Duplass are still planning to make Creep 3.
“It is something we talk about all the time, and it is something that we are working on,” Brice tells Slasher Radio.
“The show is almost an incubator for what Creep 3 could be, in a lot of ways. I won’t say which episodes, but some of the episodes for the show were potential Creep 3 ideas that we’d had at one point or another.”
Brice continues, “I just want Creep 3 to be a defining statement of some kind with the series. I want it to justify its own existence in terms of being a movie.
“But at the same time, I’m thinking about the precedent of things like this. I’m a huge fan of Army of Darkness, and I always think of Army of Darkness as an example of a third movie in a horror genre as something that challenged itself.”
Brice explains, “It took that an ran with it and took it in another unexpected, super fun direction. Sam Raimi was able to explore almost a different genre through that movie and something that he was excited about.
“If we’re gonna make it, we’re gonna do it right and do right by the franchise that we’ve already created, but we also have to do something that explodes things a little bit and is surprising.”
For now, “The Creep Tapes” remains a priority for the filmmakers. “The way that we shoot ‘The Creep Tapes’ and the way that it exists in our lives as a working model, I think we’re really happy right now, and we’re probably gonna try to do this as long as we can,” Brice notes.
“And that’s not to say we couldn’t make a third movie while we’re the show, but right now, we’re beholden to making this show the best version that it can be.”
As with the Creep films, Brice and Duplass co-write “The Creep Tapes” with Brice directing and Duplass starring as the serial killer known as Peachfuzz.
