‘BrokenLore: UNFOLLOW’ Launches January 16, 2026 on PC, Consoles; ‘BrokenLore: ASCEND’ Announced [Trailer]

Serafini Productions had a double dose of news at the Sony State of Play, announcing a January 16 release date for BrokenLore: UNFOLLOW, along with a brand-new title in BrokenLore: ASCEND. BrokenLore: UNFOLLOW will be available in a standard and Deluxe edition, with the latter including the original soundtrack, a customizable pet, an exclusive additional ending, and for PlayStation 5 owners, 24 hour early access to the game ahead of its official launch.

BrokenLore: UNFOLLOW centres on Anne, a victim of bullying who wakes up trapped in a nightmarish world. As a result, Anne is forced to explore her surroundings and come to terms with her past’s most painful choices. Anne is not alone in this world, however, as a monstrous creature wanders around and follows her every step.

The game aims to delve into social issues, particularly the influence of social media, exploring the intricacies of mental health, body dysmorphia, and the horrors of bullying. The creatures that Anne faces will each symbolize a different trauma experienced by Anne. Coincidentally, emphasis will be placed on Anne’s smartphone, which will serve numerous functions throughout the game.

Meanwhile, Serafini Productions followed up on its tease from earlier this year with BrokenLore: ASCEND, coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam next summer. Whereas UNFOLLOW centres on bullying, ASCEND revolves around obsession, fame, and fear.

Ren and Yui are two renowned rooftop climbers obsessed with surpassing their limits and feeding their fame. Their channel, SKYLIMIT, has turned them into icons among fans of illegal urban climbing, leading them to the Elysium Tower — the tallest skyscraper in Japan — for a nighttime ascent. What begins as the ultimate stunt soon spirals into a nightmare. A supernatural entity, the Rokurokubi, emerges to haunt them, a twisted reflection of their deepest terror: becoming forgotten and irrelevant.

Gameplay for ASCEND is a mix of realistic free climbing mechanics and stealth sequences where players must cling to narrow ledges, hide from the Rokurokubi’s gaze, and plan each movement carefully to survive. Every breath, every handhold, every sound could mean life or death. Vertical exploration becomes a psychological and physical ordeal where the player’s endurance mirrors the characters’ mental descent.
