A Hollywood film based on Sanrio’s iconic Hello Kitty mascot character was first revealed back in 2019, and now a release date is in place. Warner Bros. Pictures Animation and New Line Cinema announced plans to bring Hello Kitty to cinemas on July 21, 2028. The announcement first appeared on the official Warner Bros. Instagram. The accompanying video shows someone in a Hello Kitty costume motioning toward the famous Warner Bros. water tower, on which the WB logo now sports Hello Kitty’s adorable little bow. As previously reported, Beau Flynn of FlynnPictureCo. is the producer, with Shelby Thomas overseeing for Flynn’s company. Hello Kitty, whose real name is Kitty White, first debuted in 1974 and was created by Yuko Shimizu. Sanrio has introduced many companion characters since, and has also licensed rights to the likes of Gudetama, My Melody and Little Twin Stars.
