Konami Announced Three ‘Silent Hill’ Titles at Once to Show Its Commitment to the Series

Back in 2022, long-suffering Silent Hill fans finally got what they were hoping for from Konami during the Silent Hill Transmission, where it was revealed that we would be getting not one but three Silent Hill titles, an interactive streaming series, plus the upcoming Return to Silent Hill from Christophe Gans. And according to Silent Hill series producer Motoi Okamoto, Konami piled on the announcements to prove to fans that it was serious about resurrecting the series.

Taking to X, Okamoto stated that in announcing Silent Hill 2, Silent Hill f, and Silent Hill: Townfall, Konami wanted people to “feel [the developer’s] seriousness in reviving the series.” As developing a remake and a new title simultaneously carries a certain amount of risk, Konami wanted to convey to fans their commitment to the series.

“Users won’t feel motivated to engage with an IP unless they can sense it has a future. If the company takes a wait-and-see approach, so will the players. The company needs to show how serious it is so that users can get genuinely excited. I think that’s only fair.”

Okamoto was following up on an earlier post that he had made regarding Bloober Team’s remake, stating that it was made with both existing and new fans in mind.

“Anime and games might be a different story, but with remakes, even just considering the old customers, at best about half of them come back, and it tends to lead to shrinking reproduction. If you don’t design it with about half new audience and half old fans, the customer base won’t grow.”

The results of Bloober Team’s efforts speak for themselves, as Silent Hill 2 has shipped over 2.5 million units since its launch last October, while Silent Hill f has also reaped the benefits of the series revival. It remains to be seen with Bloober Team’s upcoming remake of the original Silent Hill if the success will continue, but suffice to say, the audience is still very much there.

Meanwhile, Return to Silent Hill releases in theaters January 2026 from Cineverse & Bloody Disgusting, starring Jeremy Irvine alongside Hannah Emily Anderson.
