The fantasy manga series created by Kanehito Yamada (story) and Tsukasa Abe (art) is serialized in Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine since April 2020, with 14 collected volumes released in Japan to date. The latest 147th chapter is featured in the magazine's latest 46th issue, which was released in Japan today . The hiatus statement reads: "Considering the health of both Kanehito Yamada-sensei and Tsukasa Abe-sensei, we have consulted with them about future serialization after the next issue. The manga will be taking a hiatus for a while as we adjust the serialization pace and publication format to deliver the continuation of the story. Both authors are currently continuing their works. The editorial department will also continue to support them. The specific publication date will be announced in future issues of Weekly Shonen Sunday." VIZ Media publishes an English-language version of the manga. Crunchyroll currently streams the TV anime adaptation of Frieren: Beyond Journey's End , and will stream the upcoming second season, which is scheduled to premiere on January 16, 2026 in Japan .
