Today is Gintoki’s birthday, and everyone is getting a present, except Gintama ’s main character; he now has to deal with Yoshiwara in Flames once again. The present in question was the release date for the upcoming anime film remake of the Yoshiwara in Flames arc, which was revealed today on the official X (formerly Twitter) account alongside a new still of Gintoki smiling while surrounded by fires (above). RELATED: Gintama Anime Announces Yoshiwara in Flames Movie, 3rd Year Class Z Ginpachi-Sensei Start Date New Gintama the Movie: Yoshiwara in Flames is directed by Naoya Ando ( Paradox Live THE ANIMATION ) with Gintama series director Yoichi Fujita supervising at BN Pictures. The script is written by Taku Kishimoto ( Ranking of Kings , DON’T TOY WITH ME, MISS NAGATORO ) with character designs drawn by Shinji Takeuchi, who is returning from the rest of the franchise. The film is set to release in Japan on February 13, 2026. Crunchyroll currently streams Gintama , describing the series as such: In a world where aliens have invaded Edo Period Japan, skyscrapers, trains and motor bikes have replaced the simple life of Earth inhabitants. One man however, still carries the soul of a samurai, Gintoki Sakata, otherwise known as Yorozuya Gin-san.
