Based on the manga by Kei Urana and graffiti artist Hideyoshi Andou, Gachiakuta is the story of Rudo, a boy from the slums of an idyllic floating city known as the Sphere. Framed for a crime he didn’t commit and tossed into the rancid garbage pit far below the Sphere, Rudo will do whatever it takes to survive in the hellish depths so he can take revenge on the people who sent him there. GACHIAKUTA RECAP Gachiakuta Episode 13 Recap Summary The Gachiakuta After Show Podcast Episode 13 Previous Gachiakuta recaps Lucky You Amo gets lost in memories as she tells the Cleaners her story. She remembers walking through the street with her mother when she was a little girl. Her mother pulls her along until they come to a man standing in front of a wagon. This man will always love her, Amo’s mother says, calling her a lucky girl. Amo’s memory goes fuzzy, but she glimpses a bag of money dropping into her mother’s hand after the trusting girl runs to him. RELATED: Gachiakuta and the Tropes of Anime Vengeance Amo and the man, who she calls Mister, travel by wagon to the same tower she’ll take the Cleaners to years later. It looks like a castle to her, and Mister promises no one will come between them there. He stares at her with unblinking, hungry eyes. Strangers As Amo grows up, Mister brings her books, food and dresses. He gets them through his work as a trafficker, he says, and laments that the other traffickers hate him and call him creepy. He crawls toward her on his hands and knees and says that her room was once used for rituals. He has one in mind now. Amo tells him that she can’t breathe and her chest hurts when they do that, but Mister assures her that’s just how love feels. She believes him, and her memories go fuzzy again. The door to her room opens slowly to reveal two fully masked figures hidden in shadow. She pulls her clothes up as the two enter. Void Mister starts to yell at them, saying that this place is for him and Amo only. As they ignore him, he activates his boots to fight. The smaller figure darts toward him and easily lands a hard punch across Mister’s face. As he lies on the floor dazed, they take off his boots. The taller figure holds them out to Amo and says they suit her better. The two approach the large hole in the wall, remarking that this spot is the closest. The taller figure tells Amo to take good care of the boots as two glowing wings spread from their back. Amo thinks this must be an angel as the two take flight into the sky above. He yells and stomps on her over and over, but she doesn’t want to give them up. The boots activate as she clutches them to her chest. In the present, Rudo approaches Amo hesitantly. Gris tells him to listen to her story. What Was Lost Back inside her memory, Amo tells Mister that holding the boots makes her heart feel full. She begs to keep them, but her pleading sends Mister over the edge. As he and Amo struggle over the boots, she begins screaming back at him. They scuffle, and Amo manages to push him off her – and through the hole in the wall. Mister falls to the ground far below. Amo’s confused, and her thoughts and emotions swirl. Months pass, and Amo wants to be loved by more people. The angel returns only once during that time. The Cleaners try to make sense of her story, wondering if she might have hallucinated. Rudo recognizes the mask Amo drew – it’s the same masked figure that killed Regto. The boy’s thirst for vengeance is stronger than ever. Amo breaks through Rudo’s murderous thoughts to ask if he’s like her, if his gloves filled the big hole in his heart. He doesn’t have to apologize for what he did, she says, since everyone in this world only uses their hands to hit. Rudo, now calm, crouches down and holds his hand out to her. Maybe they can learn to use their hands to form connections instead, he tells Amo. She gives him a small smile. After Amo bids the Cleaners farewell, she returns to her tower and closes the door.
