‘Ire: A Prologue’ Launches October 28 on Steam and the Epic Games Store; Demo Coming October 13 to Steam

It’s a quick turnaround for ProbablyMonsters and their first-person narrative horror game Ire: A Prologue. Announced back in August, the devteam has announced that the game will fittingly launch on October 28 for Steam and the Epic Games Store.. In addition, the game will have a demo available as part of next week’s Steam Next Fest.

Intended as the launching pad for a new franchise, Ire: A Prologue centers around Emily, whose father has vanished. And the only clues to his disappearance lie aboard a ship that’s been lost in the Bermuda Triangle. To find him, Emily must unlock 13 doors aboard the ship, each with their own loops. All the while, a monster is tracking Emily’s every move.

The only way to survive the monster stalking Emily is to stay hidden. As you sneak around the ship, you’ll need to use stealth mechanics to remain out of reach, as well as find, assemble, and use tools to distract and outwit it. However, the monster will learn and adapt to your strategies, so choose your moves wisely.

All the while, you’ll need to search each room aboard the ship for journals, cassettes, and discarded items to learn the truth of what happened to the missing crew, and ultimately, your father. Complimenting the gameplay is the game’s use of full 3D audio, placing you in the haunted soundscape of the ship, while a composed orchestral score “amplifies the sadness, grief, and tension along the way.”
