‘Monster Girls’ Trailer – First Documentary to Explore the Work of Women in Makeup & Creature Design

Now available for pre-order, the upcoming documentary Monster Girls is notably being billed as “the first documentary to explore the history and contemporary work of women in special FX makeup and creature design.” You can watch the trailer for Monster Girls below.

According to the brand new documentary’s press release this week, “Monster Girls uncovers the often-overlooked history of women’s contributions to character and creature design.”

Directed by Jessie Seitz (Jakob’s Wife, Beyond Horror), the film includes interviews with Academy Award–winner Ve Neill (Beetlejuice, The Lost Boys), Jennifer Aspinall (The Toxic Avenger, Street Trash), Missy Munster (Slipknot, Ice Nine Kills), and many more.

“I am so excited to finally start sharing this project and to provide a platform for women who work in FX makeup. This has been three years in the making,” said director Jessie Seitz.

Monster Girls is now available for pre-order through October 17, 2025.
