Tokyo International Film Festival 2025 Unveils Animation Film Lineup

Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) held a press conference to announce the lineup for its upcoming 38th edition at BASE Q Hall in Tokyo Midtown Hibiya on October 1. Launched in 1985 with the aim of promoting the potential of films from Tokyo and contributing to exchanges with diverse worlds, the 38th edition of TIFF will be held from October 27 to November 5 in Tokyo's Hibiya, Yurakucho, Marunouchi, and Ginza areas. The "Animation” section, one of the main sections of the festival, will screen 12 animated films this year, including the latest works from Japan and overseas. The lineup is as follows. Allah Is Not Obliged (Director:Zaven Najjar) – Japan Premiere Angel's Egg 4K Restoration (Director:Oshii Mamoru) – Japan Premiere ChaO (Director:Aoki Yasuhiro) Decorado (Director:Alberto Vázquez) – Asian Premiere Edge of Time (Director:Watanabe Shinichiro,Li Wei, Morita Shuhei, Weng Ming) – International Premiere I Am Frankelda (Director:Roy Ambriz, Arturo Ambriz) – Japan Premiere Jinsei (Director:Suzuki Ryuya) Labyrinth (Director:Kawamori Shoji) – Asian Premiere The Last Blossom (Director:Kinoshita Baku) Little Amélie or the Character of Rain (Director:Maïlys Vallade, Liane-Cho Han) The Obsessed (Director:Takahashi Wataru) Momotaro, Sacred Sailors (Director:Seo Mitsuyo) – as "80 Years After the War Retrospective" Additionally, four films from the Macross franchise are including the lineup for in the Outdoor Screenings Section, alongside Jaws , Bad Boys Ride or Die , The Karate Kid , and Superman Returns .
