Gals Can't Be Kind to Otaku!? , a romantic comedy manga series created by Norishiro-chan (story) and Sakana Uozumi (arts), will receive an anime adaptation in 2026. The anime's official website opened today with celebratory illustration messages from the two authors. from Norishiro-chan from Sakana Uozumi Gals Can't Be Kind to Otaku!? began serialization in Coamix's Monthly Comic Zenon magazine in August 2021, and its latest 11th volumes is set to release in Japan on October 20, 2025. The series has surpassed a cumulative total of one million copies in circulation. Yen Press, which will start releasing an English edition of the manga this month, describes the synopsis as such: Meet Takuya Seo, an otaku who sits behind the popular gals in class, Ijichi and Amane. As people from different “castes”, you wouldn’t expect them to have much in common. But when their worlds collide over a borrowed eraser, Takuya slips up about his favorite anime, and Amane…is rather quick to correct him. She says she’s not a fan, but her familiarity with the series suggests otherwise. Could she be…a fellow geek?!
