New horror publisher Black Lantern Collective continues to churn out announcements, this time with We Create Stuff’s Days Without Incident. Originally built in 2017 as a prototype Half-Life 2 mod, the game is being released for free on Steam on October 22.
For a bit of background, Days Without Incident was created during the years when We Create Stuff were transitioning from experimental modders to full-fledged developers. Days Without Incident never saw release (until now) but, the ideas and mechanics later inspired their psychological storytelling horror with In Sound Mind, which released back in 2021.
By releasing Days Without Incident now, the team are both celebrating the anniversary of In Sound Mind, and rewarding the community. Meanwhile, the team is still hard at work on their next title, Nightmare House, which was announced last year.
Days Without Incident is set in the industrial town of Ebenflow. You are dropped into an abandoned metalworks factory, shuttered after a string of mysterious deaths. Rumours of poisoned water and strange growths linger, but your investigation forces you to confront the shadows left behind. It has been… how many days… since the last incident? The truth of that waits in the dark, but the town clearly doesn’t want to remember.
