Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle Passes $600 Million Worldwide

History and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba continue to go hand in hand this week, with Sony Pictures Entertainment announcing on September 29 that Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle is the first Japanese film to pass US$600 million at the worldwide box office. In Japan, Demon Slayer also passed 35 billion yen, the second film to ever do so after Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train . According to Sony Pictures Entertainment,  Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle  finished its third weekend in US theaters with an estimated US$7.100 million, for a total US box office of US$118.176 million. The weekend saw the film bring in US$1.815 million on Friday, US$3.050 million on Saturday, and an estimated US$2.235 million on Sunday. It is the biggest international film in the US market since Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon in 2000, where it made US$128 million . Back in Japan, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle is the second film ever to pass 35 billion yen, bringing in a total of, as of September 29, 35.06 billion yen (US$236.91 million) on the back of 24.26 million tickets sold since its release 73 days prior. The official X (formerly Twitter) account for Demon Slayer announced that they conclude posting the film’s box office number on social media . In other Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment markets, Demon Slayer has made a total of US$16.6 million in Mexico, US$12.5 million in  Germany, US$12.3 million in France, US$9.0 million in India, US$8.4 million in the UK, US$8.1 million in Brazil, US$7.3 million in Indonesia, US$7.0 million in Thailand, US$6.7 million in Malaysia and US$6.7 million in Spain. It is currently the 8th highest-grossing film of the year worldwide, behind Superman . In South Korea, KOBIS reports that Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle has made a total of US$38.82 million with over 5.01 million tickets sold, a massive milestone for any film release in the country. It is only US$40,000 away from passing F1 to be the highest-grossing film of the year in South Korea, though South Korean film My Daughter is a Zombie will still be number one for ticket sales.
