The young girl talks to herself as they walk behind her. They come to a mostly intact tower that reaches to the sky, which is a surprising sight in No Man’s Land. It’s so tall that Rudo wonders if it reaches up to the Sphere. The team enters, and Amo entreats her visitors to remove their face masks so they can talk properly. She leads them to her room at the top of the tower, which is decorated with stuffed animals and little handmade ghosts hanging by… their necks? Amo responds by asking what kind of girl he likes, and Rudo’s too thrown off to reply. She continues that her type is people with a strong smell, like Delmon. Enjin takes over for Rudo and asks bluntly if the romance talk is the payment for the information. Wrong answer. Very wrong. That’s Not Good Amo loses it, muttering to herself and digging her fingers into her hair. Eyes wild, she accuses Enjin of just wanting to use her. Enjin tries to backtrack, but just upsets Amo more. She activates her boots, her vital instrument, which Rudo notices bear the same mark as his gloves. Enjin steps forward to take her on when he’s attacked from behind – by Delmon! Amo grins wickedly and asks again about the Cleaners’ romantic types. When no one answers, Amo’s face darkens as she scolds them for not talking. Zanka checks on Enjin, then calls their opponent ugly while he activates his vital instrument. The next attack comes from Delmon again, not Amo. He’s under some sort of spell, but Tamsy doesn’t think he’s being controlled. Delmon activates his vital instrument, a water hose he calls Ookiku Naare, and points it at his teammates. Return to the Sphere (Or Is It?) Rudo blinks, and he’s suddenly surrounded by darkness. Back in Amo’s room, she tells the Cleaners she has another new fan. Tamsy grabs the spaced-out Rudo as Delmon attacks, and explains to the others that his vital instrument ties back to his past as a gardener. Delmon once used the hose to make his beloved plants grow, so the targets of his attacks absorb the water until they burst. It’s never been used on people – until now. Meanwhile, Rudo hallucinates that he’s back on the Sphere, surrounded by Apostles. He looks at Amo, but her voice changes. He sees her as Chiwa, the girl he had a crush on until she betrayed him . She tells him that a nostalgic smell can transport a person into a memory, and Tamsy realizes she’s making Rudo see something. Amo Says Too Much The glowering girl mocks Tamsy again, saying that she’s not forcing Rudo to see anything; she’s merely making him smell something that reminds him of a happy time. Anyone who smells it sees Amo as someone they love. Zanka and Tamsy thank her for the information and put on their gas masks. As much as Rudo can’t forgive Chiwa, he protects her – Amo – as the two Givers approach her.
